Just now, while I was trying to stand up (which is no small task for me these days); Micah was all up in my space. I asked him to move back so I could actually stand without knocking him down with my massive belly. He wraps his little arms around (as far as they'll go) my belly and says "I love you baby sister!" Unbelievable. Micah will repeat saying "I love you" to people but he rarely ever says it even in return when Mick or I tell him. Just out of no where he says this...I just couldn't believe it. Thank you, Jesus!

good day - bad day
I think adjustment would be a good word for today. Micah did great for school today. He walked right in and was extremely happy when I picked him up. I of course was a bit emotional but never went into full on sob mode...which is good for me. I did see quite a few mom's in their cars wiping some tears so I didn't feel so bad. Although their kiddo's were probably starting prek 5 days a week and mine was just going for 6 hours:) I was very proud of how Micah did and we had a great talk about school in the car. Then he wanted to go to CFA and I should have just headed home. Things went downhill from there and as I write he is still not down for his nap...I am beyond frustrated and my two hours of semi peacefulness seem an ugly trade for what we've endured after the fact. Hopefully after a few days of getting used to things he wont be quite so wired when he gets home. I guess I will chalk it up to transition and adjustment and pray for a better day for both of us on Thursday.
Edited later: Ok, so I just reread my post and I sure do seem like negative Nancy...so here's my second go at being positive Peggy instead:) I am so thankful that Micah walked right in with no tears to school at all. He didn't even look back, literally. I of course loomed outside the window for 5 min. making sure he never looked back. I also drove back to "drop off" his shot records so that I could send in a spy to check on him again. As I drove away from the school and felt the huge lump in my throat and the feeling that I might vomit I thought of Micah's poor wife one day. What in the world will I do on his wedding day if I feel like this when dropping him off for a few stinkin' hours. God help us, seriously. Anyways, I also recalled how my mom used to park at the playground for half the day waiting for me to go to recess so she could check and see if I was ok. I thought that was ridiculous until I considered doing the same thing today...I didn't only because I had commited to work...on purpose so I could discipline myself from being well, what I am, ridiculous. When I picked Micah up he was so excited to see me and wanted me to hold him. Nothing better than that. He was tired and I should have taken him home. I think our whole fight and naptime nonsense was a product of overstimulation and I refuse to let it ruin a special day for us. So, that is that. What's done is done and I will choose to be glad that I have teacher's willing to invest in my child's life and a child who while challenging still makes me want to vomit knowing I have to leave him. That is some strong lovin' I tell ya...and if I love him (and now Sadie Jane) like that...how much more does our Heavenly Father love me and you! I am loving and needing His love everyday, but especially on a day like today and He is faithful to give it. Thank you, Jesus.

Panther Labor Day!
Mick and his team had a tournament Labor Day weekend. I know, thanks Coach is what I say to that. Micah and I had a good weekend though and today went to some of the games in Cartersville. Micah was having serious Daddy withdrawals and cried "I want my Daddy" at the end of the first game. Then he got busy playing with the girls on the team and he forgot about his drama. Mick is in his 11th year coaching at Chapel Hill and he might have the best team yet...and he has had some really good teams. After this weekend they are still undefeated 15-0. Which to me doesn't mean as much but to Mick it is really exciting. So I am so proud for Mick and the girls. We had to drive along way to get there and we couldn't stay long but Micah was so great and he is getting his bath now to get ready for his first day of school. Please pray for me at 9 in the morning! Here are some pictures of Micah in his momma-made shirt and of he and his Daddy since he is such a Daddy's boy right now.

mixed emotions.
My mom wont like this two posts with no pictures but I need a place to work out what's in my head...and like it or not the blog is where I do it. This pregnancy has been marked with mixed emotions throughout. Excitement and anxiety all at once. It seems that every decision made has some things that make me excited and some other things that make me anxious. I have mentioned that I am excited to have a new baby and a girl at that...but I am also worried about Micah bird and how he'll adjust and how I will possibly handle two children. Shouldn't I have taken a test? The big thing coming up that I am super anxious about is Micah starting school. Just two days a week for a total of 6 hours but I am having major trouble with it. I know, I know what you are thinking...my mom has already said it:) It will be good for Micah and we met his teacher and feel that she will be a GREAT fit for him. But, I have all but begged Mick to let me pull him. I just don't feel a peace about it, but maybe I'm not supposed to. With the new baby coming I don't want Micah to think we shipped him out after two years of constant mommattention or that he is being replaced. I already love Sadie Jane so much and I am not worried about splitting my love I feel like there is plenty of room for more of that... but I don't want to give him a complex. I also know that Micah is super aggressive and active and while there will be good things (sharing, obeying, playing, friendships) there is also the fear that too much of that at a young age could cause him to resist learning because it involves a classroom created or geared more towards girls.(says Dr. Dobson) And I am pretty sold on homeschooling (yep, we'll be strange:)) but this year is just an awkward year with a new baby coming so Mick felt it would be good to have Micah interact socially and give me a break so that I can still work, with only one baby on the hip instead of two. But I know that my sole responsibility is discipling Micah and Sadie Jane to know Jesus and while I welcome help from anyone I want to make sure I'm still doing that. So I'll drop him off reluctantly on Tuesday and while the other kids will be clinging to their momma's I'll be holding Micah's hand too tight as he runs for the door because he is so excited about SCHOOL! Ok, so I think I've worked it out. This school thing might not be what Micah needs but it definitely seems to be what I need. Reading over my hypersensitivity I know that Mick is being the leader and doing what is best for our whole family. So I'll submit and prayerfully learn alot along the way. Please pray for me in the coming days, because what seems to some a really small issue is continuing to draw out tons of emotions...whether reasonable or not...and that we would do what God would have us do and that we would make the best decision possible each step of the way.

for the record books
Ok, I am not looking for pity or trying to whine I just needed to record a day like today to get it out of the way. I can look back and read about some great days that Micah and I have had as mother and son and get all sentimental. This will not be one of those posts. Beware of reading if you are having a really good day...it could bring you down and that isn't my intentions.
This morning started off great - I got a shower and got fully dressed before Micah woke up. He had seen a lot of television recently but I wanted to spend the morning playing since I wasn't working or sick. We cooked eggs, Micah ate, we got out the play-doh, Micah played, we typed a note for Mick on the computer and I was feeling all proud of my sweet boy. Then we went back downstairs to get dressed. There was a piece of dried up cheese on the den table - I know, gross- but this is important- Micah picked it up and I told him to put it in the trash or back on the table. He threw it on the floor. I asked him to pick it up (you all can see where this is going if you remember our newspaper on the floor issue)...Micah refused. I asked again and then immediately sent him to timeout no use in negotiating there. I had learned what I thought was my lesson with the newspapers. He sat in timeout for a while then I asked him to come pick it up. Nope. Not happening. I leave him a few more minutes and then go in to tell him he will be picking the cheese up. He responds by throwing a full blown tantrum (to understand those three words you would actually have to see it go down - praise Jesus that you didnt) I tell him to sit in timeout and get it together...he begins to hit and kick me. Spanking. And again with more of the same. Right back atcha kid. I then leave him in timeout because we have both lost it at this point. I sit down to pray and call my mom to try to calm down. She offers to come rescue him but that isn't an option. If I let him win today our floor will be covered with cheese - figuratively anyways. I think about how Mick would handle him and how the cheese would already be in the trash now and I start to get upset. I go in to check on Micah and he is rolling around and having far too much fun in time out. No book covers what to do when you have exhausted all options. So I improvise. I go back to the restraint hold timeout because I figure timeout isn't feeling painful enough. That is dangerous for both me and Sadie Jane but what else could I do? I know, you all have answers...but I had none at the moment. As Micah is flailing about I feel the sudden rush of failure over me and I start to sob (part pregnancy emotions, part momma failure mode and quite honestly small part could this work mode) Micah stops flailing takes one look at me and wraps his arms around my neck. He starts patting my back saying "It's ok, Mommy, It's ok." He then stands up looking at me like I have four heads and says..."I go pick up cheese, it's ok". I wonder to myself how many times the sob approach would work for obedience and what good ol' Dr. Dobson would say about my teachable moment. Then back to battle. Micah does pick up the cheese put it in a napkin and then dries my tears...with the same napkin.
Friday is mall day and I was determined that we still go. I needed to escape lest I do something or say something (else) regrettable. Micah doesn't want to go...too bad. So I load him in the car kicking and screaming and head to the mall for my sanity. We get there and I have the nerve to park at a different entrance..."this isn't MY mall!" he screams over and over. I sit in the front seat praying and thinking we should probably head home but my mom, Mick and Taron were all meeting us so I figure a diversion would be nice for the both of us. Micah wont talk to Jenny when she arrives and then Mick gets there to be greeted with a shove. He takes Micah for a talk in the bathroom and they come back to the table like a he flipped a switch. While I am thankful for the help and peace I can't help but wonder...HOW DID HE DO THAT? and why can't I??? Mick takes Micah off for a few minutes only to call me and let me know Micah has had a blow out in Build-a-Bear all the way to the floor and shoe. Nice. I go to get his spare shorts but Hayden had an accident yesterday so those are gone and all I have left of pullups are Princess ones of Charlee Ray's. Sad. So I put Micah in Belle and we head out into the mall with a polo and nothing else. Hey, it's Dville. We only see 3 more people that we know. My mom and Mick have hit the road at this point to get away from me or Micah or both as his attitude has worn my attitude down a bit. Taron and I walk around a little while and then we hit the road. Micah wants a bag of chips on the way home because he says they make him feel better. He is down for his nap now and I am about to attempt the same. I don't pretend that we know actual hardship or suffering in our little bubble of a world but in my eyes it is all I know for today. I am terribly thankfulf for what I have and for my family its just a day and it'll be over soon. And, like I tell Micah when I am at my end..."God's mercies are new every morning, so are mine" But I wont lie and say that it isn't sheer exhaustion to constantly discipline and analyze the discipline after the fact. Like usual my mouth runneth over...when it probably shouldn't but that's who I am, again:)

To Grandmudders House We Go!
Yesterday Micah and I made a trip to my Grandmama's house in Alabama. I have been saying I wanted to go spend the night before Sadie Jane gets here but we haven't had the chance. We ended up not being able to spend the night but we had so much fun visiting and shopping. My cousin Sissy was able to go with us for the day which was a treat and a help seeing as how I am large pregnant at this point, Grandmama is 86 and Micah is just well, Micah. Thanks, Sissy! We met Jane again for lunch on her birthday and visited with them as well. Micah did so well (in my eyes) considering he only got a 45 minute nap at around 520!! That was a huge step for this control freak but was well worth the time spent with family. We left Grandmudders (that is how Micah says it) and headed to the ballfield were Hayden had ridden the bus with Mick and the team. He was the ball boy the whole first game and then once Micah got there they both played their hearts out. I was without help on this leg of the trip so we only stayed for half of the game...but it was another win for Mick and the girls! It looks like Mick has his most talented team yet...of course it would be the year that we birth a child midseason. Once we got home Micah melted down like never before, my boy needs his sleep apparently but we both went to b
ed calm and thankful for a fun-filled day I think!

Hunter Park
After Story time today we went to Hunter Park with our friends Jaxson and Taron. I had been sick for a few weeks and then as soon as I got well Jaxson got sick so we hadn't been able to hang out in quite sometime. Micah was soooo excited to see them and actually so was I. Taron wanted to let Jaxson feed the ducks and I let Micah reluctantly. For those that live here you know that the ducks at the park are cruel and disturbing and I sweat the whole time anyone feeds them. I took Bay one time and got so scared I picked her up and we literally ran to the car as the ducks chased us when we were out of bread. Apparently they can sense fear. Taron took charge and kept them from scaring me too badly...that's what friends are for, right? We let the boys play on the playground for a while and then let them come get on an old choo choo train and play. Micah loves that train and thinks that he really drives it. I went to get my camera to take pictures...because everytime we go somewhere now I get all sentimental that this could be our last time as just the two of us...But by the time I got the camera the weird weather warning sirens went off and Micah went nuts telling us to listen. We went to lunch with the boys and even had a few conversations in between bathroom trips. Nothing spectacular about today, but just so thankful that we can have days where we enjoy friends, outdoors and learning! Thank you Jesus, we are so blessed.
