hope

So there is hope for my sister right now. I am not going to go into details and issues but I wanted all of you who have been praying to know that I took her and admitted her into a program today. She is there and starting her recovery process. There is no guarantee she will stay or that it will work, but it is a start nonetheless and I am so thankful for that. Please continue praying with me and I will keep you posted.

da da

So this morning Micah got up and we got from his bed to his door and he pointed out and said dada? We got out of the room and he started running from room to room yelling da da dada? I finally stopped him and explained he is at work. Micah then pointed at every picture with Mick in it. We went downstairs and I thought he got it but then he ran to both doors in the midst of playing to see if Mick was there. So the boy loves his momma but he sure does miss his daddy after being with him for two days straight. Hopefully today wont turn into a meltdown when he realizes daddy wont be home much for another week...and maybe Micah wont cry either:) By the way, right now he is looking out the window in the office yellling...dada dada!

If you haven't noticed this post is mainly for Mick himself!

thanks alot nana and pops...it's a two post weekend...

So Micah also got a surprise from Nana and Pops this weekend. His very own drum set. The boy thinks everyday is Christmas. They found it at the flea market and sent it home with us on Sat. So far it isn't too bad and Micah loves it. He looks so cute on his little stool. The clanging cymbal is definitely his favorite. The other random picture is what Micah chose to where the other day and I had to take a picture since I knew his daddy would just love it. The only thing that would have made it better is if I could have gotten socks on under the sandals:)

close ups

We have had a very good, uneventful weekend. We took a break from other distractions and just had lots of family time. It was much needed and lots of fun. Micah focused on tee teeing and actually tonight asked to go tee tee...and then went. Strangely no no, to Micah means no and yes...so what he said was "no no tee tee" and then grabbed my hand and took me to the potty. Obviously it is hard to potty train someone who can not communicate so we still aren't actually training yet. I hope this isn't to our detriment when we want to give the whole thing a full force try.

Also today I remembered again why I love my life, even with all the hard stuff. I played tennis today and won. Yeah! so far this season we (my partner and I) are undefeated. Which means since I typed that we will loose next week. I digress, ok so I got home from playing and Micah woke up crying. I went in to check on him and I immediately picked him up and he layed back down on me with "blankie" and "lamby". As I held him I thought about the fact that being a mom is all I have ever wanted to do and I am getting to do it. I love that I don't miss moments like today with Micah and that I am almost always there when he wakes up. I know it isn't that way for everyone but for me it is my calling. I know it is where God wants me and I am so thankful that I get to be there. I love that picking up my son and holding him makes him feel safe and that I can offer him that consistently. I know there are so many struggles and areas where I fail. But I love being a mom and I pray that I get the opportunity to do it again and maybe again:) Who knows what God has for our family but for now I will enjoy Micah.

thankful

These are pictures that I took at our Micah Morning at the park.
He loved this thing...
You will notice it looks like I am taking pictures of Wilson from Home Improvement...I can't get the boy to slow down for a minute. Finally I remembered this was supposed to be fun for Micah so I went and put the camera away and played with my bird.
This is what I see of Micah all day long...him running away!

So this week has been a long week. Monday and Tuesday were terrible days for Micah. He just couldn't quite get himself together. He was in constant trouble and even his friends at the chicken house noticed his ornery behavior. Thursday I decided that I would make the morning all about Micah. While I am only working a few hours a day...dealing with other things takes up the rest of that time and keeps me on the phone constantly. I decided Micah, while he in no way is neglected might be in need of some undivided attention. It was just what he wanted. It was also what I needed to. I had gotten so busy that I was missing the little things he does. Here are some funny and neat things I have seen this week:

~ We are still running every day and yesterday we ran in the afternoon because it was to cold in the morning. I asked Micah how it felt outside, because he headed out of the garage while I was putting on my shoes. He looked at me and then put his hands on the ground to see how it "felt". My very own Amelia Bedelia...brought laughter to me.
~Micah has tee teed in the potty at least once every day this week. He still tee teed in his diaper lots more than that no doubt. But at least he is getting used to riding the porcelin pony! (That is how I am doing it with him, I turn him facing the pot and have him straddle it)

~His main reason for getting in trouble this week is hitting. (swatting, slapping..all of the above.) He hits random people that are within his reach, small babies at playgrounds and cute girls in his gymnastics class. So, I was trying to talk to him about it yesterday. I was telling him we love other people we don't hit them. I was reaffirming by patting or rubbing his arm. We were sitting on the stairs having this conversation and it was like he all of the sudden got it. He jumped up and hugged me all the while patting my back. Now I am sure there will be no more hitting since I explained it so clearly...yeah right.

~It's no secret my life isn't what I want it to be right now and I struggle keeping it all together myself. But at one point I was on the phone(again) this week and usually Micah whines for me to get off. But I was trying to get something accomplished and he was playing so well. I started to get upset and he just came over, didn't try to grab the phone or any of his normal disturbances and he just layed his sweet little head on my shoulder and hugged me. He did this two or three times during the conversation. My little boy just reaching out and being Jesus to me and he didn't even know it. Thank you, Jesus!

Sorry...

So for those of you that just every so often stop by to read my blog you may not have noticed but to my two faithful followers I say sorry. I know that opening and closing my blog is irritating but I am doing what I feel is neccesary. At this point I am just going to use my words wisely and hope that I can continue to keep this blog opened. I am not going to talk about the issues with my sister for now. If you want an invite to my other blog, email me or leave your address as a comment and I can invite you to that one so that when this one's closed you will know why...

10 Years...

Lauren and I
High school friend Heather...
Micah decided to put on Mick's shirt the other night...
So cute...our little ghost!
Enough with the pictures, he wanted out!

In the midst of all the chaos of family stuff was my 10 year high school reunion. Dealing with what was going on I wasn't quite in the mood to hang out and chat with people I hadn't talked to in 10 years. But Mick really wanted to go...for those of you that know our story you know that he was the only teacher in attendance at our 10 year. It was fun to see some old faces and show Micah off to them. Otherwise it was all really awkward...I think 10 years isn't quite long enough for people to change and my closest friends didn't go. Everyone still sat with their certain groups and I didn't really fit in to any group. Surprisingly there was no group for students who married their teachers:) Awww, not so sad for me, I just always was best friends with people from a different high school. Maybe I should have gone to their reunion. Just kidding, it was fun and it was weird how little people had actually changed. I also didn't get to go to the night event which would have probably been more relaxed but I was to stressed with bigger issues at the time. Sorry, it appears in my hiatus I have forgotten how to type a coherent post...It is what it is...
